Leather Bag Workshop
Learning new skills is exciting and often empowering. Imagine combing those feelings with the joy of a new bag! Well, this rather snazzy leather bag will be your reward for attending this thoroughly enjoyable workshop, a day of learning traditional leather work techniques in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The skills you will be introduced to will include; bevelling and burnishing leather for a super professional finish, hand stitching using the two needle saddlers method, fitting metal fastenings, and dying and preparing leather – yes, you will even get to dye the leather, making your bag truly yours.
Your experienced and knowledgeable tutor will guide you through the making process to complete your leather bag, which will measure approximately 20cm x 28cm x 10cm. The workshop will run from 9.30am until 5.00pm, with a pause for a ploughman-style lunch. Your lunch and all the materials to make your leather bag will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day however, due to the nature of the workshop, we suggest wearing sensible clothing and footwear.
As well as heading home with a beautifully handcrafted leather bag, you will have a set of basic skills that can be applied to many future projects of your own.
It is worth noting that a good amount of stitching and punching holes is involved in the making of your bag, which may be quite tiring on your hands. So, some previous experience of working with leather and, in particular, stitching is necessary. Although not a requirement, we recommend attending our Leather Workshop first. If you have any questions about whether this workshop is suitable for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Places on this workshop are limited to 8.
