Metal Embossing Workshop

We are delighted to be introducing this BRAND-NEW workshop.

Embossing is the fascinating practice of creating a raised design or text on a surface, typically on paper or, as in this instance, metal.

This workshop offers the exciting opportunity to create three beautiful pieces of embossed work, using hand tools and the skills you will be introduced to during your day.

Working with pewter, your knowledgable tutor will guide you through the processes. In the morning you will create an embellished initial design (pictured) which will be placed in a box frame, ready for displaying at home. In the afternoon you will create two smaller pieces, adding colour using alcohol inks, and make them into greetings cards. Handcrafted cards and perfect for sending to a loved one - or perhaps even keeping and framing!

This workshop is designed for complete beginners - and please don't worry, you don't need to be artistic, just keen to learn a new and exciting skill!

During your day you will learn; how to create low and high relief embossing using hand tools, how to work with stencils and sheet pewter, and how to age and polish metal to a high gloss finish.

The workshop will run from 10.00am, until 4.00pm, and will include a pause for lunch. Lunch and all the materials to make your framed embossed piece and two colourful greetings cards will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day.
