Leather Sandals Workshop
How exciting is this? The opportunity to make your very own leather sandals?
The style of sandal is based on a traditional design from Menorca called Avarcas (pictured) and was originally worn by Menorcan farmers in the 18th century. They are easy to slip-on and really comfortable to wear.
During your day with us, you will learn many processes including how to; dye and prepare leather, hand stitch using the traditional two needle saddler’s method, bevel and burnish the leather for a super professional finish. Your tutor, who uses high quality British materials, will guide you through the making process.
The workshop will run from 9.30am until 5.00pm. All the materials you need to complete your leather sandals are included in the price, as is your ploughmans-style lunch. You will be provided with a workshop apron to wear during your day however, due to the nature of the workshop, we suggest wearing sensible clothing.
Please be aware that a good amount of stitching is required to make your leather sandals and it can be tough on the hands as you will be working with thick leather so some experience of this kind of work is advisable. Although not a requirement, we recommend attending our Leatherwork Workshop first. If you have any questions about whether this workshop is suitable for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Places on this workshop are limited to 8.
